Civil Ceremonies and Civil Partnerships

Nibley House - civil ceremonies in Gloucestershire

Nibley House in Gloucestershire is now licensed for Civil Ceremonies and Civil Partnerships.

This is still a family home, working farm and stud, and sharing vows here allows you to start your married life in the centre of somewhere that is active, real and grounded.

There are acres of beautiful gardens to wander around in, and 200 acres of hilly farmland strewn with horses and sheep - with wonderful views in every direction.

We have three rooms in which you could hold your ceremony: the Billiard Room, the Drawing Room (no pictures available yet, as it is being refurbished), and the Hall.

The Billiard Room

The Billiard Room looks out onto the side gardens and over the Front Lawn to Stinchcombe Hill. It is 30ft x 20ft and can hold up to 60 guests for the ceremony. One of its main features is its beautful painted ceiling.

This room will be refurbished in January 2010.

The Hall

The Hall (20ft x 20ft) is an unusual option because you can then hold your ceremony on the steps, overlooking the views towards Stinchcombe Hill (from where the picture above was taken), with your guests on the Front Lawn drinking in the views all around.

Weather, of course, dictates the desirability of this on the day - but Stinchcombe Hill is quite beautiful, and would be a wonderful view in which to make your marriage vows.

The Drawing Room

This is undergoing refurbishment, so we don't have photos as yet - but it will be lovely. It is identical in size to the Billiard Room (30ft x 20ft, 60 guests), overlooking Stinchcombe Hill and the gardens to the left of the house.

Some notes on Civil Marriages Civil marriages near Bristol

Once you've decided that you want to hold your ceremony at Nibley House, you'll need to co-ordinate a date and time with both us and the Registration Office to make sure their registration staff are available to attend.

Gloucestershire County Council can now accept bookings more than twelve months in advance of the wedding date, but bear in mind that popular dates for weddings get booked up very quickly.

You must give formal notice of your intention to marry personally by both you and your partner to a Registration Office. Usually you are required to have lived in the district for at least seven days before giving notice. The minimum period between giving notice and when a ceremony can take place is fifteen clear days, and once issued, the certificate for the marriage is valid for twelve months.

If you would like to discuss your Civil Ceremony or Civil Partnership options with us, do contact Walter Eley on 01453 544632.
