| I'm an ex-London advertising art director, having worked on national advertising campaigns for such clients as Wedgwood and Volkswagen. I also built up a freelance design business, designing everything from letterheadings and brochures through to total corporate identiies. Oh! yes and a vast amount of magazine design work as well (I was once offered the job of art director on Radio Times).
I now live a somewhat quieter life in the Cotswolds, combining my creative consultancy work with my interests in |
gardening and the Nibeley Stud dressage team.
I talk straight with my clients: that is, you won't hear any advertising jargon pass my lips. If you're considering an advertising or design project, then contact me. I'll quote you a price for coming up with, say, three different design concepts. After that, if you wish to go into the development stage, I'll quote for supervising it through to print, broadcast, or onto the worldwide web itself. |
| The way I see a web page is that it represents a space that, if you were to buy it in a national newspaper, would cost a fortune! Not only that, but a well designed and placed web page can have a "hit" count that any newspaper editor would die for. Better still, they've clicked your site because they're interested in your product.
I keep my designs clean and clear. Too many designers use animations, unreadable typefaces and garish colours. To me this is saying "Look what a clever designer I am!" when a page should be saying "Look what a clever product my client is selling." |
That is not to say that there can't be creativity in web design - I think the ideas on this site speak for themselves.
Now I've linked up with a web master, whose ability to get sites noticed is second to none. Together we're offering a formidable website design and management service. How much do our services cost? Well clearly we can't say: do you need photography for instance? or our copy writing facilities? If the answer is yes then obviously the price will alter. These are wonderfully hard-working drawings. You can use them on letterheadings, Christmas cards, in brochures or, in fact, on any printed material (printers love them). And as you can see they're ideal for use on the web as well.
All the drawings are done in pen and ink, are A4 in size and cost £130 each. I like to do the drawings in situ, but obviously I can work from photographs if you're not in the Gloucestershire area.
My drawings have graced many magazine articles, books and countless advertising brochures, and there's an extra bonus for you: you get to keep the original art work. You can frame it and stick it on your wall, then sit back and wait for me to die, when their value will surely rocket!
Sometimes people ask me why I still bother to take on these drawing commissions and I tell them it's a joy to be able to leave this computer, sit down in the open air and just draw! It was, after all, the reason I went to art college. I may have become a fancy pants art director but it's good to get back to basics.
Currently I'm working on a suite of drawings of the Cotswold Way. I'll be printing them, then selling the prints here on the web.
